About This Project

Date: Public tours begin summer 2016

Partner: Ontario Jewish Archives

Venue: Kensington Market – map

Project Members: Nada Abraham, Allison MacDonald, Kit MacManus, and Lindsay Parsons

Since 1974, the Ontario Jewish Archives (OJA) has led tours of Kensington Market, highlighting the historic urban landscape of the area. With a fresh take on Jewish life in the early 20th century, the newly remodeled tour Stories of Spadina explores the Market through personal narratives discovered in the collections of the OJA. Walk with us as we uncover the stories of Kensington that helped shape it into the vibrant community it is today.

Public tours begin Summer 2016

We would like to thank our project advisors, Donna Bernardo-Ceriz and Dara Solomon and our course supervisor, Matthew Brower, for their continued support throughout the completion of this exhibition.

We would also like to recognize the support of the Ontario Jewish Archives, the Stories of Spadina Walking Tour Docents, and the University of Toronto’s Faculty of Information.
